NEW TV PROGRAM FEATURING SHC DEBUTS ON OCTOBER 2, 2013

Larry E Arnold, director of ParaScience International and prominent researcher of fire phenomena, is featured in the next episode of the popular new television series "The Unexplained Files."

The program explores spontaneous human combustion and debuts Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 9:00PM ET on Science Channel.

It includes Arnold's on-site investigation of the unusual fire fatality of Oklahoman Danny Vanzandt in February, 2013, considered as a possible SHC by local Sheriff Ron Lockhart, himself a former arson investigator. Arnold, a co-producer of the program, also introduces the never-before-revealed case of Vermont's Frank Baker, who says he survived multiple outbreaks of "fire" internally.

"These are two remarkable cases," says Arnold, author of ABLAZE! The Mysterious Fires of Spontaneous Human Combustion. "Not surprisingly, the Medical Examiner in the Oklahoma case recently ruled Mr. Vanzandt's death 'as natural' yet he also described the death as 'violent, unusual or unnatural'. Does the first 'natural' characterization simply mean not criminal? What, then, simultaneously made it also unusual and unnatural? By whatever means and however Mr. Vanzandt died, the localized blaze that burned little but the victim fits classic SHC-type scenes. Meanwhile, Mr. Baker's astonishing story is an important addition to the ever-growing list of people whose bodies do really strange things - strange fiery stuff - that prove real medical mysteries remain to be solved."

Of course, the wits and the debunkers will find clever ways to scoff, but then they haven't taken the time to seriously think - think at all - about these anomalous and rare occurrences.

Rebroadcasts are scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 12:00AM, Friday, October 4, 4:00AM; October 6, 10:00PM; October 7, 1:00AM, and October 8, 5:00AM. All times are Eastern and, as always, check local listings.

SCIENCE CHANNEL: "The Unexplained Files: Human Combustion & Carlos de los Santos" - September 18 2013 @ 9PM ET

Spontaneous Human Combustion - Oklahoma, February 2013 - a man is reduced to a pile of ashes in his own home. Bizarrely, fire investigators find no fire damage around him. Is he the latest victim of spontaneous human combustion? While investigators tackle the question, Frank Baker, demands explanations for the horrifying phenomenon that has put him through the terror of catching fire three times without any known cause.

Carlos de los Santos - Pilot Carlos de los Santos is en route to Mexico City Airport, when he is suddenly surrounded by three UFOs. Carlos is terrified as the silver discs seem to disable his aircraft, then raise it to a high altitude, threatening a fatal stall. Carlos regains control when the strange objects suddenly dart off to a volcano at inconceivably high speeds, completing aerial maneuvers that were unheard of at the time. Investigation proves that Carlos was neither drunk nor drugged – and the actual 18-minute recording of his desperate Mayday call to the airport attests to his genuine panic. But it is first time testimony from a radar operator that proves beyond a doubt Carlos' plane was being "buzzed" by UFOs...

The newest program to address the centuries-long controversy of Spontaneous Human Combustion debuts September 18, 2013 on The Science Channel, and features two events not previously televised: the 2013 localized fire fatality of Danny Vanzandt and the multiple - survived - anomalous burns that Frank Baker says afflicted him. Larry Arnold, author of ABLAZE! The Mysterious Fires of Spontaneous Human Combustion, offered both cases to Raw TV, producer of the series, as potential examples of enigmatic burn anomalies that can afflict people, and both are making their debut on national television in the debut broadcast of this series. The program includes a portion of his on-site investigation of the death of Mr. Vanzandt, including real-time meetings with local officials in Oklahoma where the sheriff (previously an arson investigator) in charge of the investigation described the fire scene as "bizarre."
Will these cases be explained (again) by the "wick effect" or by acetone supersaturation or by some other means portrayed as conventional, or be presented as examples of rare, mysterious and as yet unexplained spontaneous or preternatural human combustibility? Only the producers at Raw TV and the "suits" at the Discovery Network know right now; the rest of us will get the answer on September 18 ...

Larry Arnold will be speaking at the 2nd annual paranormal conference - "Parallel Universes: Things Unknown" - at the 1886 Crescent Hotel in the Arkansas Ozarks later this month (Aug 23-25, 2013).
Full programming, 2 nights at America's Most Haunted Hotel, a ghost tour, and some meals all for $439 ... a really decent price!
